A panel of industry experts examined the latest Wolter Kluwer Future Ready Lawyer (FRL) Survey at the 2022 LVNx (Legal Value Network) conference. The panel discussion was moderated by Nicole Stone, Director of New Product Development Content Strategy, Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory, U.S. and included industry leaders Sarah Andeen, Chief Knowledge & Research Services Officer, Chapman & Cutler; Jared Applegate, Chief Legal Operations Officer, Barnes & Thornburg LLP; Esther Bowers, Chief Practice Management Officer, Honigman LLP; Leslie Brown, Director of Legal Process Innovation, Greenberg Traurig LLP and Chloe Carver, Outside Counsel Programs Manager, Microsoft.
The focus of the panel discussion was the state of the client-firm relationship at the tail end of the pandemic. Panelists considered the recruitment and retention of talent in an era in which, according to the FRL survey, 70 percent of lawyers indicated that they are likely to leave their current legal department positions within the next year. Panelists also debated the role played by technology in the challenges to firms in the current and near future and how it relates to client-firm relationships.
