Both government and private industry data processors were rocked in early December with the revelation of a massive security incident potentially affecting personal data held by thousands of companies and government agencies. In an article based on a webinar they conducted for clients, Jena Valdetero and David Zetoony of Greenburg Traurig provide timely guidance on how companies who have used the SolarWinds Orion application that was compromised by the hack should respond, including information on investigation strategy and technical safeguards. They also offer advice to companies that may not have used these products but that may nevertheless have obligations resulting from their use by a downstream vendor with access to their data or network.
