The
European Securities and Markets Authority has listed
central counterparties established in non-E.U. countries that have applied for
recognition under Article 25 of the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) and which expressly agreed to have their name
mentioned publicly. ESMA noted that this list is not necessarily exhaustive and
remains subject to further updates.
Eight
U.S.
central counterparties have applied: Chicago Mercantile Exchange, ICE Clear U.S.,
LCH.Clearnet LLC, National Securities Clearing Corp. New York Portfolio
Clearing LLC, The Options Clearing Corporation, Fixed Income Clearing Corp, and
ICE Clear Credit LLC. Other central counterparties that have applied include
the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corp., the Tokyo Financial Exchange, Inc.,
and the Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company, Ltd.
